Thanks for showing the process. I bet this goes really fast. You only left out the huge mess a router makes in the shop
. I used to find black base shavings all over my shop for weeks afterward. Love the base colors.
last year i’ve build with blue base, few week ago i’ve found some blue shavings…smaller burr works better… i’ve tried cutting base by hand with a blade (boxcutter)but it’s hard to keep it straight…at least its an heavy material and fall on the floor…mdf is the worst…the dust goes everywere!!! floor to ceiling!!
Edge mounted.
I cut edges to size with dremel abrasive disc
I bend the edges with pliers to fit the base(tip and tail)
I clean everything with acetone
I put the base on the edge of the table, clamp it with long spring clamps
I glue with ca one flap-wing every four and clamp it
Double check the fitment from under with a light
Wait 30 min to let ca set
Everytime i touch edges i wear rubber gloves to avoid flash rust (thick kitchen gloves, the latex-nitril thin ones tear immediatly), if present anyway i remove it with coarse scotchbrite and acetone
